This is just the solution that I found because I happen to have Razer products already, and since I started using Razer drivers I have even upgraded to a Razer headset. Also, note that I am not advocating for people to purchase Razer drivers or products. Please take into account that these drivers are intended for headsets only and may not function with a standard speaker system. If you have not purchased a product, drivers will need to be purchased. If I'm not mistaken, Razer surround is only free to those who have purchased a product from Razer.
As such, you should consider carefully before installing any program on to your device and note that I take no responsibility for any damages that may occur. There's always the possibility of corruption, user error, developer bugs, or glitches.

While the Z is the latest/greatest PCI Express sound card, the earlier PCI Express sound cards (Recon3D, TitaniumHD, etc) use the same SoundCore DSP that the Z does - the difference is that the Z series has newer DACs and supporting electronics.
The "bug" manifests in Windows 7 or later as a BSOD (WHEA_UNRECOVERABLE_ERROR). The issue is an address bug at the 4 GB area (therefore, it only affects PAE-equipped or 圆4 operating systems AND if you have 4GB or more of system RAM) - it was a minor nuisance with XP however, it's a decidedly bigger issue given the 圆4 boom since. and drivers give me no problemsĪny of the Creative PCI Express sound cards with a DSP end-runs a known hardware issue with the PCI sound cards (specifically, the X-Fi cards) unrelated to the issue you're having. I ended up getting a ZxR card and no problems with mic. The software that runs the drivers for the xfi has not been updated in almost 4 years. Problem is xfi cards, is they are getting old. Another solution would be to buy a Z series audio card from creative.
